What is Rhinoplasty?

Nose Surgery or Rhinoplasty,  is a plastic surgery procedure designed to improve the appearance and/or function of the nose. Rhinoplasty reshapes the nose for those who are unhappy with the aesthetics of their nose, and can be a necessary plastic surgery procedure in the case of a traumatic injury to the nose. Rhinoplasty can widen a too narrow nose and slim a nose that is too wide. It can reduce a nasal hump, straighten a deviated septum, correct bumps, indentations, asymmetries, and can improve a patient’s breathing by correcting the internal anatomy of the nose.

The nose, centered in the middle of the face, commands much attention. Millimeters matter and even the most minimal deformities can be noticed. When the nose is large or dominant, it overshadows the subtleties of other facial features such as the eyes or the mouth. Rhinoplasty can have significant enhancing effects on a person’s appearance and self-confidence.  Both men and women seek rhinoplasty, some at a young age and others well into adulthood, and the reasons for doing so are as unique and as personal as the individual who opts for the procedure.  When rhinoplasty is performed, patients find an improved sense of attractiveness and self-confidence.

Deviated septums and other structural abnormalities can make it difficult to impossible to breath through the nose. Rhinoplasty, or more specifically, a septoplasty can restore the septum to a no function. Most insurance plans will cover the cost of septoplasty.  Surgery of the inner anatomy of the nose can repair collapsed or misaligned structures and make breathing much easier.

What Can Rhinoplasty Do?

Rhinoplasty can:

  • Reduce or increase the size of the nose.
  • Change the shape of the tip or the bridge.
  • Narrow the span of the nostrils.
  • Change the angle between your nose and your upper lip.
  • Correct a birth defect or injury.
  • Allow better breathing function when combined with septoplasty.
