The Brachioplasty surgery is a body contouring procedure that is performed to improve the appearance of the upper arms. Often referred to as batwings, this surgical procedure eliminates excess skin and fat from the upper arm.  Many people struggle with their arm appearance, especially as they get older due to loss of skin elasticity and in some cases, loss of muscle tone.  Baggy upper arms also occur after a significant weight loss. The Brachioplasty, or Arm Lift, is performed through an incision that is made on the upper under arm from the elbow to the armpit. Although the incision is made on the under side of the arm, visible scarring is a component of this procedure. The Arm Lift is sometimes performed in combination with other body contouring procedures such as Liposuction, if there is excess fat in the area that has not been responsive to traditional diet and exercise.

Although Brachioplasty surgery does leave a permanent scar, most patients find the trade-off worth it for the results achieved.
